Communion, Responsibility, Accountability
|
Responding as a Lutheran Communion to Neoliberal Globalization
Karen L. Bloomquist, Editor
|
Contextual theology seeks to enable the people of God to confess who God is and how God is active in our lives and world today, so that in our witness we might participate in God’s transforming activity in the world. The contributors to this book seek to deepen theological, pastoral, and ethical reflections around the three-fold focus of “Communion, Responsibility, Accountability,” as ecclesial aspects, economic life, and advocacy with governments. This book will help people in different parts of the world reflect on and be motivated to act as communities of faith in the face of the enormous challenges economic globalization and related phenomena pose today.
The first part of this book brings together the work on economic globalization that the Lutheran World Federation has been pursuing in relation to its member churches, field programs and ecumenical partners. The second part contains articles that deepen theological, pastoral and ethical reflections that are evoked by this focus, but are much wider in their implications.
