Identity, Survival, Witness

Reconfiguring Theological Agendas

Karen L. Bloomquist, Editor

Theology in the Life of the Church, vol 3

Theology is the contextualization of the study of God. Here teaching theologians from Asia provide theological explorations to their struggles with identity, survival, and witness. While the theologians and the churches they represent find their roots in Reformation theology and denominational mission work, many are emerging as post-denominational communities of faith. Being self consciously “Lutheran” has not been the main concern in articulating a theology of most of the Lutheran-initiated churches of Asia. The focus here is on critical theological work that is needed if theology is to serve the Asian churches in engaged and constructive ways.

The Rev. Dr. Karen L. Bloomquist, editor, is director of the Department for Theology and Studies, The Lutheran World Federation, Geneva, Switzerland.
