This book includes interior and exterior photographs of the Lutheran churches of Slovakia. There is text describing each church built in each of six different periods. Some of the churches were originally roman Catholic church and became Lutheran churches as a result of the Reformation. These monuments of stone, brick, and wood witness to centuries of trials and temptations, as well as centuries of God’s grace and faithfulness.
Rev. Wilma S Kucharek is married to The Rev. Dr. Thomas J. Drobena. Together, they have been co-pastors at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Torrington, Connecticut, since 1986. She and Rev. Drobena are co-authors of the book "Heritage of the Slavs," and translators of "Lutheran Churches in Slovakia" as well as authoring numerous other works and articles. They are the parents of two sons: Thomas and Joshua.
.The Rev Wilma Kucharek, bishop of the Slovak Zion Synod, was in Johnson City, New York and baptized in the Slovak language at Ascension Lutheran in Binghamton, New York. She graduated from Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, IN, and earned her M.Div. and STM degrees at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, PA
