Lutherans Respond to Pentecostalism
|

Theology in the Life of the Church, vol 4
The spread and influence of diverse expressions of Pentecostalism, especially in Africa, is posing challenges to Lutherans. An LWF seminar brought together pastors and theologians, mostly from Africa to discuss what had been identified as a significant issue. In some areas Lutherans feel threatened by the upsurge of Pentecostal churches around them. In some churches the charismatic practices often identified with Pentecostalism have been incorporated into their worship practices.
The articles in this book are likely to spur debate, and it is anticipated that they will provoke further theological work on the challenges that Pentecostalism raises for Lutherans.
This book is highly recommended for those in any congregation who find their understanding of Lutheranism challenged by charismatic influences.
